The new Monitex Differential Pressure Gauge provides clear visual confirmation that safety critical pressure differentials are being maintained.
1st September 2020Airflow plays a leading role in keeping areas safe using different air pressures. Air pressure, whether it is positive or negative, will help to control airborne hazards such as dust and fumes. According to The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), it is estimated that 13,000 deaths each year are linked to past dust exposure at work. Poor air quality is a particular problem in confined and sensitive areas.
What is Negative Pressure?
Extracting air from an enclosed area creates lower pressure (weight) of air in that area. This means that air will flow into the room through any openings such as cable ducts and ceiling voids preventing dust migration into surrounding areas. This contains the airborne hazards within the area in question. Without negative pressure, in addition to the danger from the air from the work area taking dust with it into adjacent rooms, because of the way that contaminants spread even in still air, dust will migrate through even very small openings. Containing hazards within the area, filtering the hazard, and venting the resulting clean air ensures works can take place adjacent to sensitive areas such as hospitals, schools or offices with no danger to the live area.
What is Positive Pressure?
Positive pressure is when air is forced into an area faster than it can leave. This increases the pressure (weight) of the air inside the room, ensuring that unfiltered air cannot enter the room. By pressurising a room with filtered air, it prevents contaminants from spreading into sensitive equipment or environments.
Introducing the Monitex Differential Pressure Gauge
The Monitex Differential Pressure Gauge provides a simple, cost-effective, and accurate way to measure and display room differential pressure. The monitor shows a red or green light ring meaning that both site and client teams have an instant visual assurance that the area is under control.
The unit can be set up the monitor positive, negative or neutral pressure with a simple adjustment of the parameters to suit local conditions including light intensity and whether or not the pressure is displayed.
The Monitex Differential Pressure Gauge was developed as a rapid response solution for temporary isolation rooms in hospitals and for contractors working near to live areas, it offers fast, effective differential pressure measurements with a visual indication. This unit is easy to install and can be run from either 240V or 110V or in the short term on its built-in batteries.
Capture, Contain, Control
Capture, contain, control is a proven methodology, devised by the RVT Group, to ensure effective control of all on-site health hazards. To follow this methodology for Dust Control, the Monitex Differential Pressure Gauge should be used in conjunction with other RVT hazard solutions.
Dustex Raptor - A high airflow extraction and filtration unit designed to capture and filter dust from a wide range of construction activities and to provide negative or positive pressure ventilation. The Raptor provides an airflow of 1000m3/hr and features three-stage filtration (including HEPA).
Dustex Wandafilta Plus – Powerful extraction and filtration kit, enabling filtered negative pressures to be achieved. This highly powerful unit will maintain pressure over long duct runs. This powerful unit is called the 'Plus' because it moves an astonishing 6000m3/hr of free air.
Dustex Airlock - Create an isolation airlock between a building site and surrounding sensitive environments to contain the area. This 2m x 1.5m unit has been designed to fit perfectly into hospital corridors and other similar environments.
Dustex Quick Props - RVT's Quick Props enable you to create a screen that is the exact length, height and shape you require, preventing airborne dust from contaminating the environment surrounding the construction site.
Monitex Area Dust Monitor - Monitor and manage dust and particle emissions continuously and in real-time. This monitor will help to ensure that you are keeping below the Workplace Exposure Limits (WELs) for dust exposure.
