When positioning the hood, consider how the airborne hazard will be traveling whilst you are working. For example, dust from an angle grinder travels in the direction of the cut, and fume from welding or burning tends to rise due to the heat. Therefore, careful placement of the hood is vital to ensure that as much of the hazard as possible is extracted at the source.
The hoods have a wide mouth at one end and a round ducting hose connection at the other. The 450x450mm hood is designed for use with 250mm diameter ducting. The 500x500mm and 600x600mm hoods should be used with 300mm diameter ducting.
An RVT consultant will be able to advise which hood should be used as part of a bespoke dust or fume extraction system.
