24th September 2021The Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG) invites you to attend their webinar event at 11am-12pm on the 19th October. It is a free event and open to everyone in the construction industry and is hosted by RVT Group.
The mission of the HCLG is to unite the construction industry in eradicating ill health and disease caused by exposure to health hazards. Therefore, this event will not only be introduced by Henrietta Frater, the new Co-Chair of HCLG, but Henrietta will also be giving an overview of the HCLG’s purpose and objectives. You will then hear from the leaders of the HCLG Working Groups who will share their plans and key aims. You will also find out how you can get involved, and the part you could play in helping to raise standards across the industry.
The HCLG’s current areas of focus are Mental Health, Musculoskeletal Disorders and Respiratory Health. Therefore, three working groups have been established, pooling the extensive experience of prominent health and safety professionals, to target these specific areas. Together, these groups will work toward achieving positive change in the construction industry and group leaders will be speaking at this event, discussing their key aims and strategies.
This group, led by Steve Hails (Tideway), will take to the floor to reveal their key aims around people returning to work following the pandemic, and tackling the attendant challenges and anxiety that this will create. Their aims include:

October is an important month in the construction industry where the focus on health, safety and wellbeing is increased, and the HCLG's 'Together We Can Make the Change' webinar is running alongside the 'Stop. Make a Change 2021' campaign (Monday 11 - Friday 22 October 2021).
Stop. Make a Change (SMAC) is a nationwide campaign, where companies participate in sessions aimed at improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of everyone working in the sector. This year, SMAC is focusing on the individual worker, encouraging everyone who works in the industry to re-engage with their own health, safety and wellbeing.
The dates of both SMAC and Together We Can Make the Change are significant, as they also coincide with World Mental Health Day (11th October) and European Week for Safety & Health (18th- 22nd October). They also coincide with the HSE’s October initiative on respiratory health, which is also being supported by the HCLG.
You can find out more about SMAC.
This is a free digital event, but you must register online to reserve your place.
