8th March 2022After two hugely successful virtual events during the Covid-19 pandemic, RVT are delighted to be back hosting our first live event since 2019.
“Action On Site Health”, taking place on 12th April 2022 at BMA House in London, is expected to be one of the largest health-focused events for senior construction professionals this year. The day is set to be full of engaging discussions, interactive activities and plenty of opportunities to network with industry colleagues that you might not have seen for over two years.
We are also thrilled to announce that this event is being supported by the following organisations; the Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG), the Construction Dust Partnership (CDP), the UK Hearing Conservation Association (UKHCA), the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS), DBR Limited and Mates in Mind.
Our health can be impacted by a huge range of site hazards, from respiratory disease caused by exposure to dust and fume, to developing musculoskeletal disorders from the improper handling of heavy objects. In 2020/21 the HSE reported the following;
- 17,000 workers suffering with work-related hearing problems from 2017/18 to 2019/20.
- An estimated 13,000 deaths were linked to past exposure at work, primarily to chemicals or dust.
- 12,000 deaths were estimated to be caused by occupational lung diseases, primarily Mesothelioma, Asbestos-related lung cancer, non-asbestos related lung cancer and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
- 822,000 workers were suffering from work related stress, depression or anxiety (new or long-standing) in 2020/21.
- 470,000 workers were suffering from work related musculoskeletal disorders (new or longstanding) in 2020/21.
These are a clear indicator as to why we need to address many aspects of site health and raise awareness within the industry to protect against a number of dangerous and life altering hazards.

9.05 am – Colin Nottage (The Interesting Health & Safety Podcast) will discuss a wide variety of site health hazards and the importance of managing these with Occupational Hygienists, Eric Ball and Clare Forshaw.
