A brand-new dust suppression unit has joined the fleet in time for the summer months.
13th May 2022The Hydramist 35GT is a self-contained, mobile dust suppression bowser, designed to control dense, airborne dust produced by a wide range of construction and demolition site applications.
With a 2,000-litre (440 G) capacity tank, this unit generates an impressive throw of 10 to 30 metres. Flexibility is also key, and the unit can be powered by either a diesel engine or electric pressure pump, allowing operation without the constraints of a dedicated power or water supply. The high-pressure atomising jet nozzle, fixed to the tilting mast, can be manually angled to 45° and positioned to cover a single range. Alternatively, the nozzle can be set to automatic 90° oscillation.
The unit also offers a connected pressure washer feature, allowing you to carry out the cleaning of tools, plant, floors and facades on site.
The unit is mobile and easy to manoeuvre around site, allowing it to be positioned effectively for different applications around site. Once sited, a fine mist reaching up to 30m can be projected, either at a fixed or oscillating range to suit your needs.
By projecting a fine mist of water particles into the air, it intercepts airborne dust particles and pulls them to the ground. The initial dampening of surfaces can also prevent the dust from becoming airborne in the first place.
Construction sites are dusty places, and this only increases during the summer months. Once airborne, it is very difficult to capture, contain and control dust effectively. Uncontrolled construction dust can result in a range of life-threatening respiratory conditions in later life such as cancer, silicosis, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD). Dust exposure can also lead to non-fatal heart attacks, irregular heartbeat, dermatoses, aggravated asthma, decreased lung function, breathing difficulties and nasal cancer.
The effective management of airborne dust protects both the long-term health of workers on site, residents living nearby, and the local environment.
