RVT release a new brochure containing details of all new Hydramist water suppression units to control dust on site
19th May 2020As the weather improves, many of us are looking forward to spending weekends in the sun, with drinks and BBQs - and hopefully friends and family! Of course, Monday to Friday, we are still working hard on hot and dusty construction sites, so let's talk dust suppression...
Dust is one of the main health hazards facing on-site workers today; with 12,000 occupational lung disease deaths in the UK every year. Further breakdown of the HSE data reveals that 4000 deaths are caused by work-related Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD), 2500 are caused by Mesothelioma, and 650 are silica-related. It is therefore essential to adequately protect those working on site or living nearby.
Airborne dust and odours can be a huge problem, particularly in summer months, however both can be suppressed with a Dustex Hydramist water suppression unit.
RVT offer a wide range of water suppression units, which vary in size and can offer a throw of between 10m and 80m. Some units provide a very fine mist, whereas others provide a high concentration of water to suppress heavier dust particles.
Some models feature an integrated water tank for convenience, whereas other units need to be connected to a water supply; each are best suited to different applications. The units with integrated tanks are not restricted by water supply, making them ideal for remote areas; furthermore, you can add odour-neutraliser to the tank if required. If you need continuous coverage, it might be beneficial to go for a suppression unit that can connect to a water supply, although some of the integrated tank units will run continuously for over 6 hours!
The applications where you might consider using a Hydramist water suppression unit include; quarrying, demolition, construction, land remediation, waste handling, aggregate processing, recycling and mining.
