RVT customers can now find out if their work is affecting their hearing.
24th January 2020Following the huge success of RVT’s Action on Noise Summit in September 2019, Richard Turner, Regional Information Co-ordinator for Action on Hearing Loss is offering RVT customers free hearing checks.
Richard presented at the Action on Noise summit and has been involved in important hearing loss campaigns, including “Hearing Matters” and “SubtitleIt!”, both launched in 2015. He is passionate about raising awareness of hearing loss and tinnitus, suffering severely from both conditions himself after a rare illness in 2010.
Some 17,000 people in the UK suffer deafness, ringing in the ears and other ear conditions caused by excessive noise at work, with approximately 1 million further employees currently at risk of developing industrial deafness. Exposure to hazardous levels of noise can also lead to tinnitus, which causes the sufferer to hear sounds which have no external source, such as ringing, buzzing and whistling.
The average person delays for approximately 10 years before seeking help for their hearing and, by then, it is too late. The damage caused by excessive noise is irreversible and symptoms of hearing loss and tinnitus may be manged to a degree, but never cured. Therefore, regular hearing checks are incredibly important. Whilst you may think that your hearing is fine now, in a few years this may not be the case.
If you are responsible for health and safety in your organisation and would like to book FREE hearing checks for your work force, please contact Richard directly to make arrangements.
Please note that this incentive is offered directly by Richard Turner, Regional Information Co-ordinator for Action on Hearing Loss. RVT Group are raising awareness of this free service, but are in no way affiliated with the offer. For all concerns or enquiries, please contact Richard directly.
