20th December 2018The RVT team likes nothing better than getting involved in a little harmless competition, particularly when it's for charity. And with it being COPD Awareness month in November, the RVT Directors decided to set up an internal table tennis tournament to get everyone active, whilst staying warm and dry, and donate £10 for every player and £15 for every winner to the British Lung Foundation.
And we're delighted to say that we raised a total of £250.00, which will help BLF support those affected by a lung condition, including COPD.
What is COPD?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, is a broad term used to describe progressive lung conditions, such as bronchitis and emphysema, which make it difficult to empty air out of the lungs due to a narrowing of the airways.
COPD can be caused by exposure to harmful dust, fume and gases, placing construction workers in a high-risk category.
The British Lung Foundation
The British Lung Foundation is the only UK charity to look after the nation's lungs, which is why we chose them to benefit from our recent charity event. Funds raised for the BLF go towards helping support those with a lung condition, as well as into vital research of COPD to find new treatments and cures.
Well done to all who took part and supported such a worthy cause!
