During construction, maintenance and renovation work at live hospitals, it is vitally important that a clean and safe environment is maintained. Hospitals are required to nurse patients back to health as quickly as possible, without exposing them to any further risk. Therefore, sanitation and infection control is of utmost importance. Invasive dust, dirt and harmful spores can be linked to demolition, excavation, construction and refurbishment activities; therefore during renovation and building works, it is essential to control airborne hazards, preventing them from migrating along corridors or contaminating wards.
This introductory level training is ideal for construction workers on site in live hospitals and hospital IPC teams whose settings are undergoing maintenance, construction, or renovation work. In this presentation, we introduce the Capture, Contain, Control "3C's" methodology and explain how it can be applied to airborne health hazards in the healthcare environment. This session includes:
- How to capture hazards at their source, contain and control them effectively, improving and protecting the site environment.
- A breakdown of the Healthcare Building Note 00-09 and infection prevention and control in the built environment.
- Examples of available and compliant hazard solution equipment based on current best practice.
Attendees will receive a 1 hour CPD certificate upon completion.
