Dust is one of the main health hazards facing on-site workers today.
5th December 2018Dust is one of the main health hazards facing on-site workers today. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that 650 people die each year in the UK from silica-related diseases, while 4,000 die each year of work-related Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD).
It is therefore essential to adequately protect our workforce against dust created from wall chasing, tile cutting, stone cutting, wood work, drilling and other common site activities, by installing the correct dust control measures.
There are three key steps to effective dust control;
When working in confined spaces, RVT recommends the Ventex 300CF Centrifugal Fan with Extended WandaFilta. This unit has a large hood, making it ideal for capturing large volumes of dust at source, before filtering it through multiple filter media. When used in conjunction with screening material, the 300CF centrifugal fan provides enough pressure to create a negative atmosphere and ensure that the dust cannot escape out of the work area.
Extremely powerful, the Ventex 300CF Centrifugal Fan will deliver over 5600m³ of air per hour and is capable of duct runs of up to 80 metres in length with minimal loss of pressure. Furthermore, it is available with both 110 and 415 Volt connections.
Besides the power, distance and efficiency of the Ventex 300CF Centrifugal Fan and Extended WandaFilta, this is a cost-effective piece of kit. With an easily removable, grade EU4 washable filter, there's no need to pay for replacement filters.
Protecting the lives of site workers by minimising the risk of airborne dust is a key priority for RVT. Learn more about dust control https://rvtgroup.co.uk/hire-equipment/dust
