Product Details

The Ravex Carbon Fume Filtration Kit can be used to manage gases, vapours and odours in situations where it is not possible to safely vent them out to atmosphere.

Carbon filters, also known as activated charcoal, work on the chemical process of adsorption, where molecules that make contact adhere to the large internal surface area of the carbon. Carbon filters have the capacity to reduce most contaminants and will absorb and retain a variety of chemicals at the same time. However, the extent to which individual contaminants will be reduced varies; carbon extraction systems must therefore be carefully designed in relation to the chemical composition of the hazard, the works process and working area.

This is a flexible kit with a range of configuration options, but generally you will be supplied with: a capture hood, intake ducting, a filtration unit, an EU4 washable filter, a carbon filter, and a centrifugal fan. The type of fan and filtration unit may vary depending on your application. EU7 and HEPA filters are also available as optional extras.

The hood should be positioned as close to the activity as possible. Inlet ducting connects the hood to the filtration unit (where the filters are housed). A further length of ducting connects the filtration unit to the centrifugal fan. The high-power centrifugal fan is able to draw the fumes into the capture hood, before forcing them through the filter media. The air flow never passes over the motor of the centrifugal fan, making this set up ideal for volatile fumes.
