Taking the Workshop to the Work: RVT Group Launches Two New Containerised Hazard Control Solutions

When painting, coating, welding or fabrication work needs to be carried out on a temporary site, one of the biggest challenges can be creating a suitable controlled working environment.

Permanent spray booths and welding bays are not always available – particularly during construction projects, shutdowns, maintenance programmes, infrastructure works or work in remote locations.

RVT Group has developed two new RAVEX® containerised solutions to help tackle that challenge: the RAVEX® Paint Control Container and RAVEX® Welding Control Container.

Rather than installing a permanent facility, both solutions bring a purpose-designed, relocatable workspace directly to the project – combining the working area, containment, extraction and filtration within one transportable system.

Developing a more practical way to control hazardous work

“We repeatedly saw customers needing to carry out painting, coating and welding on temporary or changing sites where a suitable permanent facility was unavailable. Standalone extraction addressed only part of the challenge, so we set out to combine the workspace, containment, extraction and filtration in one transportable system.

We wanted to remove complexity for customers by providing a practical, controlled working environment that could be delivered close to the activity, set up with minimal disruption and removed when the work was complete. This helps sites plan temporary work more effectively and control fumes, overspray and other contaminants at source without investing in permanent infrastructure. It also reflects RVT Group’s wider direction of developing self-contained, deployable workspaces where they provide a more practical way to manage hazardous activities.”

RAVEX® Paint Control Container – bringing controlled spray work to site

The RAVEX® Paint Control Container is a self-contained 20ft spray bay designed for temporary spray painting, coating, resin and solvent-based activities.

Inside the container, a controlled downdraft draws airborne contaminants away from the operator, while negative pressure helps contain overspray, spray mist and hazardous vapours within the working area.

A staged filtration system incorporates pre-filtration and high-efficiency filtration, with additional filtration options available depending on the application. Activated carbon filtration also provides control of VOCs and odours generated during solvent-related tasks.

The system incorporates an external extraction arrangement designed for use with hazardous paint and solvent-based applications, alongside safety features including emergency stops, a ventilation interlock and internal lighting.

For projects where constructing or accessing a permanent spray facility would be impractical, this creates a dedicated workspace that can be transported to site, positioned close to the work and removed once the project is complete.

RAVEX® Welding Control Container – source capture built into the workspace

The new RAVEX® Welding Control Container takes the same approach to welding, fabrication and repair work.

Within the secure containerised workspace, an adjustable LEV extraction arm can be positioned close to the welding point to capture fume at source. Extracted air then passes through multi-stage filtration incorporating spark protection, pre-filtration and high-efficiency particulate filtration.

But fume control is only part of the solution.

The container also incorporates a dedicated welding workbench, integrated 10 kVA transformer, external electrical connections and a lockable security shutter, creating a practical temporary welding workspace rather than simply supplying standalone extraction equipment.

You can also connect an external extraction extension for it to be used outside the container – on larger or remote work areas.

Designed for changing project environments

The two new solutions have been developed for organisations that need greater control over temporary or project-based activities without investing in permanent infrastructure.

That could include construction, manufacturing, rail, utilities, infrastructure, industrial maintenance, hire and plant, and defence, where painting, coating, fabrication and repair activities may need to take place in different locations as projects progress.

By combining the workspace, containment, extraction and filtration into one transportable solution, the aim is simple – make it easier to plan hazardous activities properly, protect the people carrying out the work and reduce the risk of contaminants affecting the wider working environment.

Both containers are now available for hire from RVT Group.
