Following seven successful years of Action on Site Health (AOSH) Events, RVT Group is pleased to announce that the popular free event is returning to Scotland on Tuesday 10th November at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa, Falkirk.

Occupational health continues to be one of construction's most important challenges. From silica dust exposure and workplace noise, to mental health and health surveillance, organisations are under increasing pressure to better understand and manage the risks that affect both the immediate and long-term wellbeing of their workforce.

Against these challenges, Action on Site Health - Scotland, will once again bring together contractors, health and safety professionals and industry leaders to share practical guidance, industry updates and real-world experiences that can help drive positive change across the sector.

Silica Dust Takes Centre Stage

One of the key themes of this year's event is silica dust and respiratory health. As the industry continues to accelerate retrofit and refurbishment projects to support decarbonisation goals, workers may encounter increased exposure to hazardous dusts if risks are not properly assessed and controlled. During the event, Scott McGibbon, Director of Pvotal Consultancy, will explore the often overlooked health risks associated with these activities and discuss why effective dust control remains a critical part of the hierarchy of control.

Attendees will also hear from Colin Nottage and Alicia Parfitt, who will introduce the newly launched HCLG Silica Hub, developed by the Health in Construction Leadership Group's Respiratory Working Group. The new resource aims to help construction professionals better understand and manage silica-related risks on site.

Updates from the HSE on Workplace Noise

Workplace noise remains another significant occupational health challenge across the construction sector. Chris Steel, Health & Safety Executive (HSE), will provide an update on the HSE's workplace noise intervention campaign, including practical tools, methods and initiatives available to help organisations better manage noise and hand-arm vibration risks.

For businesses looking to strengthen their approach to occupational health, the session promises valuable insights into current regulatory focus areas and the support available to employers.

Supporting Workforce Wellbeing

AOSH - Scotland will also explore wider health and wellbeing topics affecting the construction industry.

Stuart Mace, Director of Workplace Health and Wellbeing at Construction Health & Wellbeing Ltd, will provide an update on the new CLC Mental Health Joint Code of Practice, helping attendees understand what the guidance means for construction businesses. This will be followed by the latest developments in health surveillance from Jennie Armstrong, Founder and Managing Director, Construction Health and Wellbeing Ltd.

Alongside these sessions, attendees will gain insight into topics including workplace culture, managing drug and alcohol misuse on site, and how criminal and civil law can apply both to workplace health and safety incidents.

Discover the Latest Environmental Monitoring Solutions

As part of the event programme, RVT Group's Louis Lewis will provide an overview of the latest environmental monitoring solutions available to help organisations better understand site conditions and support informed decision making.

This session will also feature an introduction to RVT Group's brand-new monitoring portal, providing attendees with an opportunity to see how technology is helping improve visibility and management of environmental risks.
