Couch-to-5K Challenge

Building on the success of previous years, RVT Group once again took on the Couch-to-5K challenge to raise money for Asthma + Lung UK. From 1st May to 1st June, team members laced up their trainers and committed to improving their fitness - some people chose to take scenic walks, others jogged around local parks, and a few hit the treadmill.

To encourage a bit of friendly competition, we incentivised participants with the chance of winning some Amazon vouchers! To participate, staff donated £5 to Asthma + Lung UK, and had to submit a screenshot of their 5km walk/ jog/ run from their exercise app. There was no limit on the number of times you could complete the 5km, and the people who completed the most would win our friendly in-house competition.

We had a fantastic 160 entries from 22 team members who got their walking/running shoes on for a good cause, walking a total of 800km and raising £165.

We didn’t stop there, our directors generously agreed to donate £50 per person who completed the challenge, (and added a bit extra on top), donating a total of £1,335 between them and making the total donation £1,500!

Why Asthma + Lung UK?

Asthma + Lung UK (formerly known as the British Lung Foundation), is one of the UK’s leading lung charities, focused on protecting people’s ability to breathe and improving outcomes for those living with lung conditions. In the UK, 1 in 5 people will develop a lung condition during their lifetime, reinforcing the importance of their work and the belief that every breath matters.

Lung disease remains the third most common cause of death, highlighting the vital role charities like Asthma + Lung UK play. Through support services, practical advice and ongoing advocacy, they provide essential help to those affected while continuing to drive progress in research and awareness.

A donation of just £22 helps fund a call to their Helpline, connecting individuals with specialist nurses who can offer guidance, reassurance and, in some cases, potentially lifesaving support.

Couch-to-5K Winners

And now for the winners of the challenge…

In 1st place, we had Jeni from our Business Development team, who submitted 64 x 5km walks and won £100 in amazon vouchers!

In 2nd place, we had David from our Warehouse Operations team, who submitted 36 x 5km walks and earned himself a £50 amazon voucher.

Finally, in 3rd place, we had Michelle from our Purchasing team, who submitted 19 x 5km walks, and won herself £25 in amazon vouchers.

Here at RVT Group, charity fundraising events are of the utmost importance and in 2025 we raised over £600,000 for charity.
