RVT Raises Money for RNID

On the 1^st November, RVT staff across the country took part in The Great RVT Bake Off, raising money for The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). Hearing loss affects 12 million people in the UK*, with a proportion of these cases caused by exposure to excessive noise at work. Lack of adequate noise control can lead to distressing and life-altering conditions such as hearing loss, tinnitus, insomnia, mental health issues and impaired memory.

Whilst supplying noise solutions to protect and prevent against excessive noise on site is what RVT focus on, we also want to help those who are living with hearing damage and loss.

The Event

We had 14 delicious entries across our Dartford, Northampton and Chester offices, which included; Victoria sponge cupcakes, autumn spice cake, chocolate and orange cake, a brookie traybake, lemon drizzle cake and raspberry bakewell tarts.

Our very own Carol (Business Development), Becky (Marketing) and Darren (Business Development) took on the roles of Paul and Prue, judging the cakes on presentation and taste. After much deliberation, the winning bakes were chosen.

The Winners

Although all the bakes were delicious, the three following runners up were chosen;

Rasberry Bakewell Tarts, baked by Alexia White (CST).

Chocolate and Coffee “Money Surprise” Cake, baked by Phil Dupont (Managing Director) and family.

Vanilla “Autumn Has Arrived” Sponge, baked by Karen Oakley (Business Development).

Finally, the overall winner, was the Autumn Spice Cake, baked by Layla Devenish (CST).

How Much Did We Raise?

We are delighted to announce that staff raised a total of £437. This amount is also being generously matched by the company directors, taking the total to an amazing £874! All the money raised will be going to RNID to support those living with hearing damage and loss, as well as funding ground-breaking research around tinnitus and hearing restoration.

This event was a fantastic opportunity for staff from all offices to take part, and plenty of cake was taken home to be enjoyed by staff’s families and friends.
