Noise Controlled Effectively During St James Park Ground Development

Construction

Exeter City Football Club’s St James Park ground is being redeveloped to significantly improve its spectator facilities and build up to 336 purpose-built student bedrooms and studio apartments.

Challenge

The site is situated in Exeter’s busy residential city-centre. It is essential to reduce noise exposure during the project, since it is necessary to continue working during antisocial hours.

Solution

RVT installed Soundex Acoustic Curtains to mitigate the continuous noise created by the operation of generators, jet washers and power floats, and limited the noise pollution’s impact on neighbouring properties. Noise created during the power floating process proved particularly problematic, so Soundex Curtains were attached to an over-hanging slab, providing an effective acoustic enclosure around the floor being floated.
