Haweswater Aqueduct is one of the largest and most important water pipes in the UK. Urgent analysis was needed of the 90-mile-long pipeline, and site operatives were required to work underground in the pipeline for long periods of time.
Toxic gases and pipe deposits in the confined space could have potentially harmed workers, so a continuous fresh air supply was vital. As some pipeline sections measured up to 19km, a solution was needed that could supply fresh air over long distances.
30 high-powered Ventex centrifugal fans were installed at multiple access points to supply fresh air to the long areas of pipeline. This ensured that all site operatives were protected throughout the project.
