RVT News - Red Diesel Levy Change 2022

The Government have announced that effective from 1st April 2022, they will be removing the entitlement to use red diesel from most sectors, including the Construction sector. With the new legislation imminent, we wanted to let you know our stance and to make this transition as seamless as possible for you.

With HMRC stating that Red HVO is not to be used in conjunction with heating or power generation, our default will be to transition across to White Diesel initially, however white HVO will also be available (rate available on request). We’re aware that this will come as an inconvenience to some and with an uplift in cost to most which we acknowledge and have set out a plan below to keep any expenses incurred to a minimum, whilst ensuring that we maintain our service levels to you, and that we all comply with the current Government legislation. Our plan is to be as convenient and as cost effective as possible to you.

  • Red Diesel can be delivered up until 31st March. There is likely to be a surge in demand, so please organise any top-up deliveries early, as these top-ups will be subject to availability.
  • From the 31st March 2022 onwards, current hires relying on us for fuel management will be transitioned across from Red Diesel to White Diesel and the fuel rate will change to the current rate at that time. Today’s rate for white diesel is £1.52 per Litre, but this is liable to fluctuation.
  • Any fuel tank or generator on hire from RVT must be returned empty if returned after 28th February. Any fuel in tanks that had once contained red diesel is classed as contaminated waste, so returning the tanks empty will avoid you paying any surcharges. This fuel used will be charged at the current rate, which today is £1.52 per Litre. Please plan in to use the fuel to your advantage, as your hire draws to an end.
  • Should the fuel tank be returned not empty, the fuel that had been used and the fuel remaining in the tank will still be charged for at the current rate. Should the fuel tank be returned not empty, any fuel remaining will be discarded and a complete top-up will be charged at the current rate.
  • Please notify us 48 Hours in advance if you wish to cancel any fuel deliveries. Aborted fuel deliveries maybe subject to a £125.00 surcharge. To cancel a fuel delivery, please email orders@rvtgroup.co.uk
  • RVT Group acknowledge that allowing the heater to run out of fuel is likely to do internal damage to the heater. RVT Customers will not be charged for damage of this nature caused by the tank running to empty at the end of the hire.
  • Tank cleaning charges may apply should alternative fuels to Red or White Diesel be used.
