RVT Introduce Green Fuel Ahead of Heater Season

RVT are pleased to announce that HVO fuel is now available to purchase for use with our Climex® heating solutions this year.

Red diesel, which is allowed for use in off road machinery, is currently the top fuel of choice for many contractors. However, it was announced in the 2020 budget that use of red diesel will be prohibited (except in agriculture) effective from April 2022. Therefore, all mobile and static machinery must either use white diesel or other alternatives, such as HVO, from this date onwards.

So, what is HVO?

HVO stands for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil. It is a FAME-free renewable fuel, making it a greener alternative to regular diesel. It can often be used as a direct replacement for diesel without having to make any amendments to the machinery. However, please check with your plant hire company before switching to this fuel.¹

What are the benefits of HVO?

HVO has a long list of benefits, including:

• Reduces greenhouse gas emissions (CO2e) by up to 90%.²
• Reduces NOx levels by up to 30%².
• Reduces particulate matter by over 86%².
• Made from 100% renewable raw materials.
• 100% biodegradable, non-toxic and odourless.
• Low viscosity, which means improved performance in cold weather.
• A high flashpoint which improves safety, storage and handling compared to regular diesel.
• HVO is compliant with EN 15940 standards and the Fuel Quality Directive 2009/30/EC Annex II.
