Beginning back in October 2017 in line with Great Britain's Health and Wellbeing Week, and continuing throughout November, RVT staff promoted another of our company values... our Can-Do Attitude.

Various activities were planned throughout the month to encourage staff to eat healthier and move more. These included:

  • Exercising for a minimum of 15 minutes before work and at lunchtime
  • Drinking a minimum of three bottles of 500ml water every working day
  • Eating two pieces of fruit during the day

To make it as easy as possible, RVT laid on the water and fruit, as well as exercise equipment in the common area.

Accounts Manager Gardia Chambers commented, "Enthusiasm and team morale were high to begin with. Both perhaps waned slightly towards the end of the month as a few team members craved something naughtier than an apple, but overall it helped us get into the habit of adopting a healthier lifestyle."

Not only did these activities benefit our own health; the challenge was set on to support the British Lung Foundation which provided an added incentive to take part. For every staff member who completed this health and wellbeing challenge, RVT Group donated £2 per person, per day.

The BLF is a charity we are always delighted to support. They are the only UK charity to look after the nation's lungs – a cause close to our hearts.

Lung disease is a condition that affects many construction site workers due to the dust and fumes that are prevalent on site every day. Without the proper equipment and protection, lives are at risk. Funds raised for the BLF go towards helping support those with a lung condition, as well as into vital research to improve care, and to prevent, treat and cure lung diseases.

We were delighted to raise a total of £134 for the British Lung Foundation and look forward to supporting them again in the future.
