Dust is one of the main hazards facing on-site workers. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that 650 people die each year in the UK from silica-related diseases while 4,000 die each year of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) linked to work.
Equipment RangeA proven methodology, devised by the RVT Group, to ensure effective control of all on-site health hazards.
A vast amount of dust is created from wall chasing, tile cutting, stone cutting, sanding wood, drilling, abrasive blasting and demolition work. Contractors therefore need to use temporary dust controls to ensure that they are not only protecting themselves, but others working in close proximity.
Failure to install adequate dust control will leave workers exposed to health problems such as; heart disease, lung disease, respiratory problems, asbestosis, silicosis and cancer. The contractor could also risk prosecution if they fail to comply with HSE regulations.
RVT believe that effective dust control can be managed in three easy steps;
