Workplace risk assessments to minimise hazards

The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 states that employers have a duty to protect their employees, as well as members of the public who venture within the parameters of that work environment.

Employers with five or more employees must fully assess site risks, and take adequate steps to minimise the danger to employees and others nearby.

Risks must be assessed regularly, particularly when new equipment or procedures have been introduced, or an accident or incident of ill-health has occurred.
